2001-2005: Holding the Martin/St. Laurent Professorship in the CECS, UCF.
2002-2003: Distinguished Lecturer of the CECS, UCF.

Synergistic Activities:

  • Throughout my career I have actively worked on research areas such as, communication networks, spread spectrum communications, neural networks, and applications of neural networks in pattern recognition, image processing, computer vision, manufacturing, and computer generated forces modeling.

  • I have published 42 papers in journals and over 135 papers in conferences in the areas of neural networks, and communications. I have been principal or co-principal investigator on research grants totaling more than $5.3M. Lockheed Martin, Harris, US Army, US Navy, DMSO, NSF, Lockheed Martin, Harris, and other agencies from the State of Florida have funded my research.

  • In conjunction with other PIs from UCF we have an NSF CRCD (Combined Research and Curriculum Development) grant. The purpose of this grant is to incorporate machine-learning research into the undergraduate curriculum. The awarded amount is $406,000 from NSF and it is matched by UCF with an additional $167,000. Through this grant not only we have introduced new machine learning courses in the undergraduate curriculum but we have are also interacting with undergraduate students, on a regular basis, teaching them how to do research.
